Berbera 04 June, 2024 {MoFD}-Meetings on Improving and Upgrading the Service Delivery of Berbera International Port Held in Berbera City.

Somaliland Minister of Dr. Saad Ali Shire together with the Director General of the Ministry Mr. Mohamed Hussein Osman and other officials who visited Berbera, the capital of the Sahel Region, held separate meetings with all the stakeholders the International Port of Berbera, where they observed the progress of the port and customs service activities. During their business trip, they held meetings with:

Berbera Port Stakeholders {Port community}.
DP World Company.
Berbera Customs Administration.
SOFA Association.
Sahel Region Inland-Revenue Office.

Four of those meetings were focused on facilitating the overall process of handling incoming and outgoing goods as well as customer care. In The conclusion of the meetings was agreed to shorten technically the unnecessary steps in the business process favoring for the customers who are connected to the port when they are clearing their imported/exported goods and to improve the cooperation between the customers and the operators of the Port and Custom, it was also agreed that all the complaints raised by customers are reacted promptly in accordance with the regulations.

The International Port of Berbera, which is located in an important location strategically, has been expanded and modernized in recent years, after the Somaliland Government and DP World Company from the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement on September 5, 2016 at Dubai. After the implementation of the expansion and modernization project done at Berbera Port, it has attracted the attention of the world as it is now preparing to be used by the countries of the region as a whole. On the other hand, it is the biggest source of income for the Government of the Republic of Somaliland, based on those mentioned above reasons there are regular meetings where the stakeholders come together.
