Senior Officials of the Ministry of Finance of Republic of Somaliland Had Their First Meeting With the Newly Recruited Members of the National Independent Tax Tribunal Committee.

Hargeisa 08 Nov, 2023 [MoFD] – Deputy Minister of Finance Amb. Roda Jama Elmi together with the Director General of the Ministry Mr. Mohamed Hussein Osman {Muadinka} and other officials of the Ministry held a meeting with the members who succeeded to fill the position vacated by the former Tax Tribunal Committee members. The former members of the National Tax Tribunal Committee was sworn in on June 23, 2020, for a three-year term as required by law.
The establishment of this Committee is guided by the Somaliland’s General Domestic Revenue Law No. 72/2016, its chapter 6 particularly in the articles of 109 to 249 read with the Customs Law No. 73/2016 its article 205.
This committee adjudicates administrative cases related to taxes in the country as a whole, and it is where the taxpayer who is not satisfied with a tax decision can appeal.
The initiative to establish the Somaliland Tax Tribunal Committee was one of the notable steps taken towards the implementation of good governance principles of transparency and accountability, which was part of the Public Finance Management Reform Program {PFM}, whose operation has being leading by the Ministry of Finance Development.
