Hargeisa 07 January, 2024 {MoFD} – Somaliland Minister of the Ministry of Finance Dr. Saad Ali Shire together with the Deputy Minister Mr. Saleeban Jama Dirie and Director General of Ministry Mr. Mohamed Hussein Osman (Mu’adin) awarded appreciation certificates to 4 companies among the businessmen of the country. These companies are the first companies fully use the Online Customs Portal System.
These companies whom were honored by the Minister of Finance with the certificates were:
- SALMA GROUP OF COMPANIES
- AL IKHWA GENERAL tld
- OMINCO GROUP
- SAFA GROUP
And the purpose was to show how we as a Ministry admire the implementation and use of this online process in Somaliland Customs. The Somaliland Customs Department is the Department that collects the most revenue for the Government, in recent years extensive reforms have been made in the field of Customs services, and they have recently started to work an automated system, which the businessmen can clear their imported/exported goods from the customs through online.
The use of this new automated process, which is called the Online Customs Portal System, saved the traders {importers/exporters} the time they used to spend in clearing their goods, it also shorten the business process involved in the clearance process at Customs.
Finally, based on the vision of the Ministry of Finance and at the same time keeping in mind the principles of the Public Finance Management Reform Program, we are committed as a Ministry to modernize the service delivery process of the country’s Customs using modern technology.
