The Director General of the Ministry of Finance of Somaliland Mr. Mohamed Hussein Osman opened a two day workshop which were discussed the role of government budget on child care was held in Borama City and among the points that were analyzed during the meeting were the following issues:

  1. The provision of services that children receive from the Government Budget.
  2. The extent of the budget’s provision of services to children.
  3. Distribution of public resources, according to a method that benefits children, while reducing the needs of children.
  4. How children would have the most possible share of sectors that provide services related to children’s needs such as education, health, water and welfare.

The meeting which was held at the Rays Hotel in Boorama and was jointly organized by the Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance Development and UNICEF was attended by mayors and senior officials from Boorama, Gabiley, Hargeisa, Berbera, Sheikh, Burco, Oodwayne, sub-committees of the House of Representatives of the Economic Committee and the Social Affairs Committee, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health Development and the Ministry of National Planning.

On the other hand, the Mayor of Borama District who also spoke there gave a welcome speech.
