Hargeisa, March 16, 2021 (MoFD) Assessment Workshop on Revenue Estimates Vs Its Actual for 2021, And the Targets for this Year (2022).

Hargeisa, March 16, 2021 (MoFD) – An annual Workshop to assess last year’s revenue estimates (2021), and the target for the year 2022, was concluded yesterday in Hargeisa. In the first phase of the workshop, reports were heard from the managers of the Inland-Revenue, Customs and the regional accountants. The purpose of the workshop was to assess the performance of the revenue offices to determine who has achieved the projected revenue and who has not, the reasons for the decline or increase, the challenges and opportunities available.

During the workshop, officers from the regional revenue offices and the regional accountants shared with the senior management of the Ministry their annual performance reports, and at the end of the event they presented their suggestions or inquiries, as they are the representatives of the Ministry in the Regions and Districts of the Country.

It is noteworthy that the year’s (2021) actual revenue exceeded 3% the estimated revenue of that same year. The outcome of the Workshop also shows that a significant progress has been made in the financial management reform program during that year.

A religious lecture/sermon was also part the program, which entitled “The Role of Trusteeship in Islam Religion”. Sh. Mohamud Jamil, one of the country’s leading sheikhs/clerics, spoke at length about the benefits of doing good deeds in this life and in the hereafter, and the consequences for those who abuse and misappropriate public funds.

After a series of keynote speeches by the Minister, the Deputy Minister and the Director General of the Ministry of Finance, the managers and accountants of the regions were presented with awards, especially those who have reached or exceeded the target.
